Reality

As a blogger, I have a tendency of making my life look perfect. I often make it appear as though all we do is have picnics, play outside in the sunshine, go for walks, and go swimming. I give the impression that my boys always get along and never disobey.
While it is true that we do have lots of fun together, especially in the summer, not every day is a perfect one.

I love my job as a stay-at-home mom. I have heard it said that it is one of the hardest jobs around, but I disagree. I think parenting in general may be one of the hardest jobs around, but you don't have to be a stay-at-home mom to be a parent.
I view my job like this: I get to spend everyday with my 3 beautiful boys, I get to make my own schedule (when we eat, when we nap, when we shop, when we go to the park, who we visit), I have time to bake treats and cook dinners, and time to clean the house before Peter even gets home from work.

But, there are challenges as well, and tonight I just wanted to set the record straight that my life is not as perfect as I might blog it to be.

Here's a little taste of reality at the Kuznia house.
- Logan has woken Marshall up 3 days in a row now by slamming his bedroom door shut. For some reason, he does not like it when Brady leaves the room to go potty at 7:30AM.
- Brady and Logan fight. About everything. Nothing I do is "fair" in their eyes. If one boys gets to throw away a wrapper, then the other must get to throw away a wrapper of equal size and weight. If one boys gets to the table or into the car first, he must start bragging about it to the other, causing tears for the second one in. I know this is normal, but boy is it frustrating some days!
- While at the store, Marshall is now able to wiggle himself out of the seat belt in the front part of any shopping cart--no matter how tight the belt is. If he chooses to sit nicely, then he will often also choose to scream, making for a very fun trip.
- While Marshall is escaping the cart, Brady and Logan are often fighting about who gets to dangerously hang from the moving cart, who gets to squish into the back of the cart, who gets to push the cart, or who gets to unload the cart. I am just so thankful that they have not started asking me to buy them things yet.
- Logan's first reaction upon being told "no" is often to start crying or whining. Although it is short-lived, it is still super annoying from a 4 year old. Luckily this week, I tried a new trick that seems to be working like a charm (for now anyways).
- Brady, as the oldest brother, likes to tease his little siblings. Although he is generally just playing around, Logan and Marshall don't always see it that way.
- Apparently safety is not as important to me as it should be, or as I'd like to think it is. Both Brady and Logan suffered bloody scrapes to their cheeks this summer. Brady's occurred when he fell off his bike while riding on the basketball court at our park (he's a very safe rider now, but he got a little over-confident and has a large scar to show for it now). Logan's occurred while camping this past weekend, when he decided to jump off the top step of the slippery frog slide, hitting his face on the bottom of the pool. Good parenting, huh?
- Brady also got stitches at 16 months old after falling head first into the coffee table, and both Brady and Logan knocked a front tooth loose within 1 month of each other.
- Brady loves TV and he always has. This summer, he has watched many episodes of Phineas and Ferb and Pokeman. He has even learned how to set them to record on his own. He is a good boy, and has spent many hours reading books and playing outside, but still...it's summer. I hate to have him inside watching shows, but sometimes I just appreciate the break.

My life is not perfect, but what fun would that be?
When you read my blog, you can be assured that we do have a lot of fun, but with the fun comes many challenges. I really don't mind, though. Even though some days can get very frustrating, when it is 7:45PM, and all the boys are sleeping, I am thankful for our day and ready to do it all over again.

That was a fantastic post!! It is so refreshing to see honesty on a blog. It's a tough thing to put yourself out there and tell people about the bad as well as the good. And because I know I don't say it often enough, let me tell you that even though I know that you aren't perfect because none of us are perfect, you are a WONDERFUL mom! I look at the way you are with those boys and I KNOW that I wouldn't be half the mom you are if I had my own kids. I KNOW I couldn't do it. That's why I don't have kids. :) So don't ever doubt what a fantastic mother you are and what a great father Peter is. You guys have an amazing family!!! Just wanted to say that. :)
