Halloween

On Monday night we met up with our cousins for some good old fashioned trick or treating.
The weather was great and I have never seen so many children out and about on Halloween.

My favorite moment of the night:
Logan: "Trick"
Lady at the door: *tosses some candy into his bag*
Logan: "I thought I said TRICK"
Lady at the door: "Sorry, but I am out of tricks tonight"
Logan: *walks away very bummed out*
And he is still talking about how he didn't get his trick.

Halloween Preview

Happy Halloween!

Since Halloween is certainly not the most important day of the year for our family, we try to keep it rather simple.
But, at the same time, since we love candy and fun...we enjoy the festivities that surround this crazy day.

This year was no different. Both Logan and Marshall wore costumes from years past (which I paid little to nothing for). Brady's costume was new this year (from a garage sale).

Brady had a party for school last Friday where he got to wear his costume and play lots of fun games. Logan's class party was today. He also got to wear his costume, make some neat crafts and play games. They both loved it!

Last Friday night, we headed over to the middle school, where they had a Halloween Walk. This is held inside and it's a way for local businesses to distribute coupons and advertise their stores. The boys received some candy and lots of other neat things.

Then, on Saturday night, Daddy took the big boys up to Rosemount to walk through "The Haunted Trail." Unfortunately, those pictures are on Daddy's phone, which is with him at work today.

I love all of the fun activities that are offered around town for free that are just for kids!

Tonight we will be heading up to Blaine to trick or treat with cousins. This is a newer tradition for our family, and one that we all really enjoy.
Again, Happy Halloween! You have to have fun and eat candy sometimes!!

Halloween

While Halloween is certainly NOT my favorite holiday (if you can even call it that), I have promised myself to never be one of those parents that refuses to acknowledge it at all.

I know there are people out there who actually practice witchcraft and celebrate Halloween in that way, but for most of us, it's just a fun night out with the kids in costumes, eating way too much candy.

This year Brady had a school Halloween party on Friday, then we all went over to the middle school for some indoor trick or treating at night. On Sunday, we headed up to Blaine to see Auntie Laura and Uncle Jason, Grandma and Grandpa, and then went trick or treating with cousins Morgan, Dylan, and Raegan.

We are all sharing the candy that has been collected together, eating just a small amount each day (or at least trying to eat only that much).

Halloween Pictures

In spite of the chilly weather on Saturday night, we still managed to break our record for trick-or-treaters at our house.

Brady had a fun time handing out candy and he even managed to hit up a couple of houses with Daddy, Uncle Jason, and Grandpa. In the short 1/2 hr. or so that he was gone he managed to come home with quite a bag-full of candy. The funny thing is that all he really cares about are the suckers. The rest of it he could do without :).

Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Laura, and Uncle Jason came over before the madness began and we ate some pizzas from Costco and some owl cupcakes. Thanks Auntie Laura.

Also, later in the evening, Brady had a great time beating Grandpa at Mario Kart. He could hardly stop laughing about it all night.

We hope everyone else had a great night too!

Sorry the pictures aren't super clear and that there are not any close-ups. My camera battery went nearly dead right in the middle of pictures. Bummer! At least I managed to capture these cute class shots.

Halloween

I've never been a big fan of Halloween. Call me a party pooper, but in my opinion, it's way too expensive and meaningless.

Sure, I've been known to dress my boys in costumes, to eat too much candy, to put out my pumpkin decorations, and even to take Brady out trick-or-treating once. But, I still don't really care for the so-called holiday.

To prove this point, let's look back at the Halloween experiences I've had since being a mommy.

This was Brady's first Halloween (at 4 months old). He was a lion (in a costume we got from a friend).

On Brady's second Halloween, he was 16 months old. This year I bought this puppy costume for about $5 at K-mart. This year also brings bad memories of Brady's first stitches in his forehead.

This is Brady's third Halloween and Logan's first (2 years old and 4 months old). Do you like my costume choices? Remember what I said about not liking Halloween?

Ok, this is Brady's 4th Halloween and Logan's 2nd. Logan has now taken over on the puppy costume and he's appears happy to have done so. Don't you think? Brady's costume is one I also got for $5 on a post Halloween sale when he was 4 months old. It just finally fit him this year (and he was finally not afraid of it anymore too).

And this is Brady's one and only trick-or-treating experience. He had a ton of fun going door to door, but he really didn't eat hardly any of his loads of candy.

So, I bet you'll never guess what costumes the boys will be sporting this year for Halloween. To be quite honest, I was going to completely boycott Halloween this year and skip costumes and trick or treating all together. And then I found out that Brady needs a costume for his preschool class party.

So, as Brady and I browsed Wal-mart.com and Craigslist looking for incredibly cheap costumes, Brady announced to me that he really wanted to be Tigger this year. Amazing, I thought! Way too easy. I then showed him pictures of himself as Tigger last year, and he confirmed that Tigger is what he wanted to be again.

Yesterday Brady helped me tear apart the garage, and we finally located the Tigger and puppy costumes from last year. So, to answer the question....Brady will be Tigger and Logan will be the puppy once again.

Our plans for this year? Well, we are staying home this year. We are having my parents and Laura and Jason down to have some pizzas, and we will let Brady hand out candy to the children who come to trick-or-treat at our house. I am fairly certain that Brady and Logan will get their fill of candy and fun this way while staying nice and warm inside.
