Rejoicing

Today was a normal day. Brady and Logan were up early, Marshall slept in, we ate breakfast, took baths, did a little cleaning, and so forth.

Then, as we sat down to eat lunch, the storms started to roll in. There was lots of thunder and lightning, lots of rain, and it became really dark outside.

Then, as I often do, I began talking about how awesome God is. I was telling them about how incredible I think it is, that the God who guides the thunder and lightning is the same God who wants to live in our hearts and have a close relationship with us. We talked about how God comforts us and protects us, how He loves us, and how He created us.

I have had conversations with my children similar to this one several times in the past, but today was different.
Today, Brady, in his bold 6 year old voice, confidently exclaimed "I want to have Jesus in my heart." "Right now" he added.

I cried, leaped up from the table, hugged him tightly, and continued to cry, with the biggest smile on my face.
This was the moment that I have prayed about since the day Brady was born. That he would grow to know and love Jesus and have a desire to live for Him.

Just as soon as I got Marshall down for his nap, both Brady and Logan joined me as I read from the bible. We read about the importance of having Jesus in our hearts, and then we prayed together, all 3 of us. Brady and Logan asked Jesus to come into their hearts, to forgive them and make them clean, and to live with them forever. It was one of the sweetest moments I have ever spent with my older boys and I will never forget it.

I am so incredibly proud of Brady today, and I am completely amazed at the work God has already done in his little, 6 year old heart. Brady has always been very smart, with a sweet and caring heart, so it does not surprise me at all that he was able to comprehend having Jesus in his heart.

The coolest part is that he's on fire! He can't wait to tell others about Jesus and he can't understand why anyone would not want Jesus in their life.
I know that God is going to use Brady in some amazing ways to share His word and His love with others. I can't wait to see it happen!

Today there was rejoicing in heaven!
