A week ago today was Brady's last day of preschool. I am certain that I had a much harder time with it than Brady did. After all, what kid doesn't look forward to growing up? And, what mother actually looks forward to watching her first baby grow up? It's sad, but at the same time, it's exciting to see how Brady and changed in the past year....socially and academically.
Preschool was a great thing for Brady to experience! Prior to preschool, Brady and I had done some so-called "homeschooling". We had worked through the entire Hooked on Phonics preschool/kindergarten program. Brady was a master of capital and lower case letters as well as letter sounds. He was also given a lot of computer knowledge, with the program being both a workbook and a computer game. But, the one thing that I could not provide for him at home was the social aspect of school. He has grown so much in his relationships with other children and with his relationship/respect for his teachers. It's a bit amazing/annoying to me that when his teachers ask him to do something, he does it immediately, but when Mommy tells him to do something, he hesitates and often whines about getting it done :).
Anyhow, on the last day of preschool, all of the families were invited to come to school for an ice cream social.
The children performed several songs and dances, an egg race, a bean bag toss, and a relay race. It was adorable! Then, each child was called forward to receive their diploma. Ice cream was served at the end.
Here are some pictures.
